Children from Years 3 and 4 visited Thinktank Science Museum, Birmingham to experience exciting hands-on learning in science and technology.
Both classes toured the different areas of the museum from understanding how our bodies function in ‘Things About Me’, viewing dinosaur fossils in ‘Our Changing Planet’, to learning more about the industrial past of our city. We were very excited to see the Spitfire aeroplane suspended from the ceiling along with a display of writing and artwork about the history of Castle Vale created by past pupils of our school.
During the afternoon, Year 3 enjoyed a workshop about Friction and Forces. They used specially made ‘friction cubes’ to find the surfaces with the most and least friction.
Also, Year 4 attended a workshop called Cauldron Chemistry with real-life experiments. They explored the world of solids, liquids, gasses and combustion. Children were amazed by the exploding liquids!
After a great day of learning, we returned to school to use our new knowledge in forthcoming lessons.
