World Earth Day is an annual event dedicated to raising awareness of the challenges facing our environment and planet. Over 193 countries celebrate Earth Day around the world, with more people getting involved every year.
During the day, we focussed on important issues seriously affecting our world, such as deforestation, climate change and plastic pollution. Children linked their new learning the Catholic Social Teaching principals and have a greater understanding of how they can be Stewards of God’s creation.
The children of St Gerard’s will go forth, following Pope Francis’ message “We can no longer remain silent before one of the greatest environmental crises in the world history.”
