British Science Week has been celebrated at St Gerard’s, with the aim of raising awareness and spark enthusiasm in science, technology and maths. This year the theme has been ‘Adapt and Change’. Children have been learning how plants and animals have had to adapt to survive and how our behaviour has to change as the Earth’s natural resources are being consumed.
We have taken part in live lessons and have explored the roles of different types of scientists ranging from fitness professionals and chefs to astronauts and naturalists. The children in EYFS have learnt about life cycles and how animals grow and change as they develop into adults.
“As stewards of God’s creation, we are called to make the earth a beautiful garden for the human family. When we destroy our forests, ravage our soil and pollute our seas, we betray that noble calling.” – Pope Francis
