Event - First Holy Communion

24 June 2017

This year the Children of Year 3 made their First Confession on the feast of St Aloysius Gonzaga and received their First Holy Communion on the Feast of the Nativity of St John the Baptist.

They had prepared for these Sacraments throughout this academic year by reading stories from the Gospels. These stories taught the children that Jesus called us to repent of our sins and to receive him in the Blessed Eucharist.

The children know that at the Last Supper, Christ transformed the bread and wine into his most precious body and blood. Jesus asked his disciples to do this in remembrance of him. Each Mass is a re-enactment of this event. Through prayer and discussion, the children came to realise that every Mass is a celebration of Jesus' death and Resurrection.

The children were very respectful on their special day. To give thanks, on the feast of Saints Peter and Paul, Year 3 celebrated a Thanksgiving Mass, where they received their certificates.
