Event - Lent

March 2021

The season of Lent consists of forty days of fasting, prayer and penitence beginning on Ash Wednesday and concluding at sundown on Holy Thursday.

On 23rd March, we joined a live stream Lenten Liturgy led by Dan and Emily to reflect on this season. We thought about the love and compassion Jesus showed for us and how we can be a blessing to others in our lives. We enjoyed singing along whilst learning some sign language.

In addition, over the last few weeks, each class has focused on the message from Pope Francis of renewing our Love, Hope and Faith. It has been wonderful to see children demonstrate these qualities around school.

At the start of Holy Week, we fixed our eyes on Jesus in His entry into Jerusalem. We thought about the faith Jesus had in His Father, and how faith can strengthen us too.

On Holy Thursday, Year 5 led us in prayer as we journeyed through the Stations of the Cross. They put together a beautiful video for the whole school, praying each Station, which enabled us to join with Jesus in the final hours of His life on Earth. As we prayed, we remembered His suffering and thanked Jesus for His everlasting love for us.

"Lent is a good time for sacrificing. Let us deny ourselves something every day to help others." Pope Francis
