Event - Year 2's Outdoor Learning

11 February 2019

This term during Outdoor Learning, Year 2 have been given the opportunity to explore the environment surrounding them within the school area and also including places of interest locally in Castle Vale.

Each child has experienced numerous activities, including shelter building, pond dipping, scavenger hunting and many more. This has made them aware of the environment around them and how much we need to respect and care for it.

Additionally, these wonderful activities inspire the children to think more about God's World and the importance of setting a good example to others when out and about.

Outdoor learning gives us a great opportunity to explore our environment.

"You are called to care for creation not only as responsible citizens, but also as followers of Christ!" Pope Francis

After foraging in the local area, we were able to insulate and feed our very own Bug Hotel with such enthusiasm.
Caring again for our environment using only natural items.

Traditional bird food made with seeds and lard, oh what fun we had!
Making alternative bird food for our hungry birds, with breakfast cereal.

All ready and rearing to go. Take a moment and try to see if you can find our delicious bird feeders.
After cutting out and decorating a cardboard swallow, children were able to try to migrate their own swallow to South Africa.

Making shelters for the local habitat.
