Event - Spirit and Sport Day

4 July 2017

On Tuesday 4th July, children from Year 5 spent the day at St Edmund Campion School for the annual 'Spirit and Sport' day.

A number of local Catholic schools joined us for a day of taster lessons, a celebration Mass and an afternoon of sport.

In the morning we were split into groups with children from other schools to enjoy a range of taster lessons, including dance, cooking, music, Spanish, making and launching rockets - to name just a few.

After this we joined with everyone to practise hymns, before celebrating Mass together. Children were chosen to take part in the Mass and we all enjoyed a joyful celebration. We then ate our lunch with our friends.

On finishing lunch, we were split into groups to compete against the other schools. On the astro turf, we played a 'bench ball style' tournament and then moved in to the Sports Hall to take part in a variety of multi-skills activities.

To end the day, there was an awards ceremony and St Gerard's finished in second place overall. Well done Year 5!

We had a great day and this gave us an insight into the life of St Edmund Campion.
