Event - World Book Day

7 March 2019

World Book Day is a registered charity on a mission to give children a book of their own. It is also a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it is a celebration of reading.

Today, the children were able to bring their favourite book character to life. We had some amazing costumes, from ‘Gangsta Granny,’ to ‘Harry Potter.’

At the start of the day, we had an assembly where we talked about the importance of reading and how it helps us with other subjects. We watched a short YouTube clip, it was David Walliams explaining what book, as a child, inspired him to write. The book that inspired him was, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate factory.’

The children also have the opportunity to win a £5 voucher to spend at the Book Fair. Last week, they were given ‘Reach for the stars’ Reading Challenge.
