Headteacher’s Welcome
Welcome to St. Gerard’s Catholic Primary School. I hope our school website will give our parents, carers and prospective parents an insight into the life of our friendly and lovely school
As a Catholic school, we offer our children the opportunity to grow as young people and encourage them to develop a closer relationship with God in an atmosphere of mutual love and respect. At St. Gerard’s, we passionately believe that each child is made in the image of God and that we, working alongside families, have the privilege of bringing them to a deeper knowledge of Christ and a fuller awareness of their own part in His plan.
Our School Mission statement is ‘with Christ at our side and St. Gerard as our guide, we live, love, learn and pray together’. All our staff and children strive to live out this mission statement daily; this is evident throughout the school in the way we speak, act and behave towards one another and out environment.
I was appointed Headteacher of St. Gerard’s in Easter 2023, and straight away, I knew this school was a special place.
I am so grateful to have such a strong and talented staff team, who dedicate so much of their time to ensure our children truly have and receive the best Catholic Education. Our children are grateful for the opportunity to attend school, they make the most out of every learning opportunity offered to them and they are proud of their successes and failures. It is our duty as Catholic Educators to give the children in our care the opportunity to grow and develop in love and respect so that they can follow God’s plan.
Mrs Bannister, our Headteacher
My favourite scripture from the Bible is ‘For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’ Jeremiah 29:31. St Catherine of Sienna’s words also inspire me daily- ‘Be who God created you to be and set the world on fire.’ It is my aim for all staff and children of St. Gerard’s to know who God is calling them to be and to trust in the plan God has set out for them.
May I take this opportunity that I am committed to working in partnership with you, parents, the first educators in your child’s life. Therefore, if you need to speak to me about anything regarding your child’s education, please feel free to do so.
God bless,
Mrs Bannister
